Yes, you don't have to pay to download and play these games. Although some of the games are shareware. Those games will have a trial period in which you can freely play the game, but after that period has expired you are required to purchase the game to continue playing it. - Do these games work on a Mac too?
Yes, it's possible to run DOS games on Mac OS X. In order to do that you need a program called DOSBox. You can download this emulator from their website: www.dosbox.com. You can also find a tutorial there explaining how to run DOS games within this application.
