Game description

Astrostein is an episode in the WolfenDOOM series of Wolfenstein 3D-themed mods/total conversions for DOOM II by Laz Rojas. It is a loose recreation of a similarly titled add-on scenario for the Macintosh version of Wolfenstein 3D by the same author, utilizing the many capabilities of the DOOM engine. However, the level design still retains many Wolfenstein-esque features, like the generally more "flat" architecture with simple geometry, greater reliance on level decoration than on architectural elements to convey the feel of the place, and secrets behind unmarked walls.

You play as B.J. Blazkowicz, the original Wolfenstein 3D protagonist, finding himself in 2043 where Nazis won and took over the world. It turns out that B.J. had been captured and held in suspended animation for 100 years, and now being sent on a Nazi spaceship to an offworld penal colony. Escape, make use of the futuristic weaponry the Nazis have and find your way out of this predicament.

The game comes as an add-on for DOOM II and can be also played using Freedoom. A separate prequel episode is also included that takes place in Egypt in 1943 where B.J. tries to stop the Nazis from using a time portal. Astrostein is so popular it got featured as its own level in Wolfenstein: Blade of Agony fangame, which is also based on the DOOM engine.
