Game description

Caveman is a pretty basic freeware side-scrolling arcade platform game that was written in C and built with the DJGPP compiler. It uses the free sprites and tiles from the set made by Ari Feldman (likely widely known thanks to Happyland Adventures) and includes three levels.

In spite of its simplicity, the game is not very easy to play. The controls feel clunky, and while the player's caveman can swing a mace, any contact with the enemies is deadly, and they move very fast, making a successful hit more of a theoretical thing.

The game comes with the full source code and level editor. Another programmer, Seymour Shlien, improved the code for both the game and the editor, and sent these back to the original author of Caveman (see docfiles.zip).
