Game description
Dark Quest is a blend of action-RPG and real-time strategy in a dark fantasy setting. It feels a bit like a mix between Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Cannon Fodder with some RPG elements thrown in.
The player controls a warlord with a small troop of loyal warriors under his command. You only control the warlord directly, but can issue orders to the squad such as stand, follow or attack everything on sight. The objective of each mission is to lay waste to enemy forces, which are often superior in numbers. The warlord is armed with a sword and can also cast spells. Vanquishing opponents earns the player mana, which may be used between levels to heal and upgrade your troops or power up your spells.
Dark Quest has two game modes: the Quest Mode is a story-driven campaign, while Sheepz Galore is just practice mode, possibly inspired by the sheep from a Warcraft II custom scenario. Dark Quest was written in QuickBASIC and released as freeware.
