Game description

Joe Snow is a shareware arcade platform game where you need to navigate a living snowball (the eponymous Joe Snow) through a maze filled with coins and emeralds, but also hazards like lava and fireballs. Items like coins increase the player's score, while passing through hazards decreases it, and if the score reaches zero, it's game over.

Completing a level involves jumping through the mazes of various configurations, with a level being solved when Joe reaches the top of the screen. While this might sound interesting in theory, the game can quickly become frustrating because of clunky controls and character movement, making even the simplest of jumps more difficult than they should be. In fact, you might have better luck playing the remake of Joe Snow which is included in The Rustic Classics collection by the same author, which rectifies some of the more glaring flaws of the original.

Joe Snow was distributed as shareware. The game includes four episodes, with all four available in the unregistered version. Registered users would get several level editors for these games, and the right to distribute their creations. As mentioned above, the first two episodes got recreated by author Philip Hassey as part of The Rustic Classics. Additionally, a modern fan remake for Windows and Linux is also available (please see the links section below).
