Game description
OverKill is a very nice-looking vertical-scrolling shoot-'em-up that uses EGA graphics to great effect. While it may not look much by 21st century standards, it was definitely very impressive back in the early 90s, producing visual quality to rival that of home consoles of the time, which is not something a lot of PC games could do.
The shooting part is your standard fare of blowing up waves of enemies and stationary turrets, picking up upgrades and carefully maneuvering through space platform mazes. As you gain more upgrades, the player's ship changes visually to reflect its ever more formidable power.
OverKill was originally sold as shareware, with only one episode available in the unregistered version. On 23 July 2008, author Ste Cork generously released the complete registered game as freeware under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 License.
