Game description

Paku Paku is a Pac-Man recreation/homage that uses a highly original trick (likely to be truly appreciated only by hardcore DOS coders) of transforming the normal CGA text mode into a 160x100 16-colour mode, which gives slightly low-res (compared to the standard 320x200 resolution used in many DOS games), but fully functional graphics that proved more than enough to produce a faithful looking replica of the popular arcade game.

The playing mechanics should be familiar to anyone: run around the maze eating dots to score points while avoiding coloured ghosts that ramble around. Eat special pills for temporary invincibility and eat ghosts for extra points. Completing each stage restarts the maze anew, but now everything moves a bit faster.

Author Jason M. Knight released Paku Paku as "cardware", encouraging users to send a postcard (the old fashioned way) at his address specified in the readme and at the home page. The entire source code of the game is also included, licensed as Public Domain.
