Game description

Prehistoric Man is a simple action/adventure game where you play as a caveman who needs to look after his basic needs: finding something to eat and drink, avoiding other hostile cavemen and, for some reason, collecting diamonds (and you thought they were a girl's best friend, not a caveman's).

The game world is split into screens, each containing something nice (or not), and you can bring up a map by pressing the M key so that you do not lose your way. The location of items appears to be randomised every time you play. When the caveman is hungry or thirsty, he takes damage, and there appears to no way to actually recover lost strength. There are also unfriendly cavemen roaming about, and you can try fending them off with the club.

Prehistoric Man was marketed as shareware. The registration code would unlock three further levels with new hazards, such as the anachronistic T-Rex or meteors falling about.
