Game description

Threat of the Trinity is a massive modification and expansion of Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar that comes as a stand-alone DOS game, using a heavily rewritten engine.

The core premise and basic gameplay remain the same: the player's alter ego must explore the world of Britannia while developing virtues and ultimately becoming the Avatar of all that is good. However, the game world and content is massively expanded with new locations, quests, dungeons, items and so on, and the game also offers bugfixes and quality-of-life improvements over the original Ultima IV. Visually, the game replaces the EGA graphics of the DOS version with those more similar to the Apple II and Atari8-bit sets.

Threat of the Trinity is compatible with vanilla Quest of the Avatar savegames, but can be played afresh as a completely new game. It was released to mark the 40th anniversary of Quest of the Avatar (which is itself available as a free game).
