Game description
XOP Ultra is a vertical-scrolling shoot-'em-up inspired by classic arcade titles of the bullet hell type (read: not for casual players), and designed with a similar look. According to the author, one of the main inspirations was the 1997 shmup DoDonPachi.
There are several game modes and progressively more difficult levels, many varieties of enemies and bosses, and definitely a lot of stuff going on on the screen!
The original XOP was released in 2002 as shareware and was only available for Windows. Praised by shooter fans, it did not succeed commercially, and the author declared it freeware in 2006. XOP Ultra is an updated re-release that is fully freeware, with separate versions for DOS and Windows available.
