Game description
This is a trading simulation/strategy game set in Renaissance Italy. The player steps in the shoes of a young Venetian merchant who has inherited a world map from his uncle and is now determined to make a fortune by buying low and selling high, the usual way. Actually, no, the game offers far more than that: explore the unknown, send out expeditions, establish trade routes, but also engage in diplomacy, political intrigue and subterfuge to defeat your rivals from other Venetian families.
Machiavelli the Prince is actually an updated re-release of an earlier Holistic Design title, Merchant Prince. The playable demo allows to sample the game for 15 turns with certain limitations. Holistic Design recently ported the game to modern Windows, and you can get an updated playable demo for Windows from GOG.
