Game description
Mission Supernova is a point-and-click adventure game with a "faux" first-person perspective (where you see the current scene but not the main character). The story is set sometime in the future when mankind reaches out for the stars. The spaceship Supernova is sent on an expedition to a distant star system where the star is about to become a supernova, so that Earth's scientists can observe this even from a relatively close distance. However, due to a massive engine failure the ship is evacuated before it even leaves the Solar system, with one person left behind: the chief cook Horst Hummel.
The game starts as Horst wakes up from his slumber, only to find the ship deserted. The player is now on their own to piece together what's going on and how to help Horst out of this conundrum. Typical of the genre, you will collect various items and try to use them with one another or with the environment to progress further. Once you run into other characters, conversations are also possible.
Mission Supernova was originally sold shareware, split into two parts (with the first being free), but it's been made fully freeware by the authors long since. The game is entirely in German, but you can play it in ScummVM with an English translation. The level of German seems basic enough for this game to serve as language practice for learners of German.
