Game description
Strewth is a fun little detective mystery game originally created for a DOS game jam. It is modelled after the game Sleuth and uses ASCII art for visual presentation.
The player controls a police detective who has just arrived at a crime scene in a private mansion. The owner had been murdered during a party, and one of the guests is certainly the culprit. The player's task is to explore the mansion (which fits entirely into a single screen), find the murder weapon and identify the killer by analysing the stories told by the suspects as their alibis. The mansion's layout, items, guests and their alibis are randomly generated very time you play. Each session will likely take about 10 minutes or so.
Strewth was developed in QuickBasic 7.1 and released as freeware. The source code is also available (please see the links section below). The game has several options for different colour schemes, although colours play no role in the story or game mechanics.
